Our energies waned as the heat of the summer took its toll. We watched helplessly as the virbrant colors of Spring turned to brown. This is not how it is supposed to be. But it is what we have been dealt. A rain dance or two was done and prayers were offered up daily. We needed relief from one of the worst heat waves and droughts on record.
We watched in horror as Isaac ravage the South, knowing it was going to bring some welcome relief, to the Midwest, from relentless heat and devastating drought. It is strange how that works sometimes.
On this Labor Day I am thinking about all of the good people in Louisiana, who are still without power, as they once again work to pick up the pieces of rebuilding their lives from yet another storm with a name. I can only imagine that they are wondering which name is going to hit them next...
End of Summer 2012 |
Even when things look impossible - hopeless - we don't give up.
We look to the future and dream of what can be if we work hard and believe.

Beautiful post Deanna! And we have a cold front coming, we just need to get thru the heat of the next few days. I am praying for rain this week. Enjoy this Missouri Monday!
Happy Labor Day to you :)
Hope, even just a tinge of it enables one to continue living, dreaming and believing. Your post is very profound.
By the way, I would like to get to know you better through your posts. Would you like us to follow each other?
Well said!
You expressed for a lot of us what we are thinking, too. Wonderful post. :)
Very nice post. Compassionate and honest. That's how I think of you, Deanna. You're a good person and a good friend.
I hope the fall brings rain to fill the water tables in your area. You sure had a hot summer. We have farmers struggling here because of the drought out there. It's going to be a very rough winter for lots of folks.
We're to get the remnants of Isaac tomorrow night into Wednesday. Heavy rains and the possibility of flash flooding for some areas. We had terrible flooding here last September 8th. I pray we don't have another September like last year. I don't think the feed mill could bounce back from another one.
Thanks for sharing your pictures.
The farmer and the gardener both know that next year will be better...
Hoping that your weather improves.
Beautiful post!! Hugs!
What a wonderful post! I hope next year isn't as extreme as this year.
It truly has been an emotional summer from one side of the country to the other. Everyone, everywhere, had something to deal with. I hope you are finally getting some rain.
LOL Jr!
There are good years and bad years for the growing things. I think it toughens them up and makes them hardy so they have the energy to pour into the magnificent spectacles that are sure to come.
Us folks that took the heat - need only to remember our grandparents knew not the sound of a thrumming air conditioner. I wonder how they managed - I know they took it (much) slower and sat and talked to each other in whatever shade and cool breeze they could find.
I have to tell you your photos are gorgeous. Looks beautiful there.
