Fickle Fart Friend

I've discovered I am blog challenged. I would follow more blogs, but I am having trouble keeping up with the ones I already follow.

My reading list/dashboard is funny in that it picks and chooses which blogs it will give me updates on. Yea, the fickle fart plays favorites! I add everyone the same and then it does its thing. It plays nice with some of you and others... not so nice.

Does anyone else have this problem? It is very irritating and sometimes I even forget to comment on some of my favorite blogs simply because my idiot friend here doesn't poke me in the side and say "hey lady, your long lost friend finally posted".

Any trick and tips anybody wants to share?

You're not the only one. I have had that problem many times. I sometimes browse my friends to see if I missed them. Annoying!!

Stopping by from Wife of O'Riley. Your post title caught my attention! LOL

Have a good day!

I don't have my blog set up for updates of friends' blogs because I don't read that many. (not enough time for very many) I keep my circle of blogger friends on the small side, so I never did any of that notification stuff. My blog is private, so I'm not sure if it sends out an update to you or not. I don't "follow" either....guess you've figured that out. LOL

Sorry I can't help you out with this little glitch. I hope someone will be able to, tho. *hugs*

You might try Google Reader. I like it because it highlights the blogs when they are updated, so you don't have to go to every blog on your blogroll to see if they have posted a new one every day.

Yeah, my list doesn't always work too. I at least comment back my commenters and then go through my list. But when it feels like a "chore" I don't blog at all. It's supposed to be fun right?

Best bet would be to check on blogs if you haven't seen new posts on them for a while. Like if you know someone posts at least every couple of days, then if you see no update after a couple of days go to their blog and check. It could be that they just haven't posted, but it's worth checking.

I do two things - one is use Google Read like Betty suggests.

And I'm ashamed to admit it - but I created IE favorites and made three folders Blogs A-list, Blogs B-List and Blogs C-List and I just go down the list as far as time permits when I just want to check in or view other comments (when I don't click the "e-mail follow-up comments to" box - which I forget to do a lot - or don't do when I know a blog gets literally tons of comments).

*Hugs* Now go get yourself some beano. :)

Thank you for stopping by Kimmy - I'm glad the title caught your attention!

LOL JR. I noticed that about your post but it doesn't matter how you get it there - just as long as you post. I loved seeing the pictures.

AK yours is one that doesn't display updates, but I don't if it is because it is private or it is just being delegated automatically to the "no updates" pile :0

Betty thank you for the tip. I tried Google Reader immediately and think I might like it once I figure out everything it does. Who says you can't teach an ol' dog new tricks!

YaYa your post is the one that made me realize just how frustrated I was with this. With the number of blogs you follow and the number of followers you have, I cannot imagine not having a reliable way to follow updates.

Tori that is a good suggestion and mostly what I have been doing. But there are a few I follow who have just poof disappeared. I sure would like to think I will know when and if they return. I think Google Reader might take care of it for me, though.

I was counting on you to have a solution Iggy :) I like the IE folders idea in addition to Google Reader. That way I can continue follow my most favorite blogs (YOU!) and still follow other interesting blogs.

I started using the Google Reader a while back because the Blogger reader list was so unreliable. It would take hours upon hours to show updates in my friends' blogs. The Google one is alot more reliable. I like that it highlights who has new entries and how many they have that I haven't read yet.

I just go where I want and don't let the dashboard decide LOL

Blogger has been really batty lately!! You could make your own blogroll on your sidebar and then you will see who has posted yourself!

I too have found that Blogger doesn't update my Dashboard with new posts. Sometimes for days! I've been over to Google Reader once, to see what it was, and if I can get back to regular reading of blogs, I might just start using that myself.
