Sneaky little devil

At around 8:00 the thunder was booming and it was pouring down rain.  There would be no moon tonight.
 Gloomy looking woods
The low and behold when we took Whiskey out at 11:30 – there it was.  Brightly mocking me.  Ha! It wasn’t nearly as impressive as I expected, but I took a picture anyway.  I just had to have my own personal picture of the Perigee Moon.
Full moon shining through tree branches
(Jim tells me I need special filters to get rid of the blue dot.  It comes from shooting directly at a bright object.  I don’t know… maybe another camera setting would have fixed it…)

Don't you hate it when those guys are right? We went to bed before 11, so we missed it.
Guess I will have to wait until I'm older and more gray to see it. What is it another 21 years?

glad you got to see it, Deanna. I kind of like the blue dot in the picture!!! We had clouds so I guess I too will wait until it comes around again.

Have a great Sunday!

I planned on getting a picture of the moon last night, but I didn't end up doing so... Was too tired to think about it when I got home, and it was definately daylight when I got up!

I expect a different setting would help a bit, but filters are the only definate way to not have the dot.

I still haven't figured out how to get good moon shots (wow, that sounded naughty.. lol!). I'm happy you were able to observe it. I missed it!! -Tammy

We've had nothing but clouds and rain/sleet. No moon view. :(

Dunno Jim, mine turned out fine... bright moon and all. It's uploaded in my Flickr if you wanna see. It can be accessed via my main blog page on the left hand side.

It really was a beautiful moon. Won't see another moon like that for 20 years I've been told.

Hi Deanna, well the pesky clouds are keeping me from seeing the moonrise which I read was the best time to capture the moon looking its fullest. Oh well, guess I'll try again in 21 years. After all, I'll only be 86. LOL! At least we had a pretty spring day to make up for the cloudy night.

Okay, I'm back. I did get a few shots of the moon after all and in between clouds, of course. They didn't turn out too great, but I'll try to post one Monday. Whew, glad I didn't have to wait until I was 80 something! :D

OhMyGosh Deanna! Your new header! I love that Fuzz Face you have pictured! I saw the old moon but not until five the next morning and I was too befuddled to fumble with the camera. Still great shots even with the blue dot! That blue dot is just a conversation piece! I have filters on all my lenses and they must not be the right ones because I still occasionally get the sun's reflection. But boy those filters keep my lenses clean!!! And I am with Tammy, I still haven't gotten a good moon shot :)

Your shot is pretty cool anyway - the photo "effect" is downright eerie!
