As we get older, we tend to wander... from day to day, to project to project, and from what is important and what is not. In our case we also plan on doing some wandering around the country. I hope you will join us.

Ridunculoous
Saturday our Postman brought a package to our door. I was puzzled because I had not ordered anything "of size" lately. Lost at the bottom of this rather sizable box were two lonely pens. What were they thinking?!?

It wasn't meant to be - at least not today
Yesterday we spent the afternoon and on into the evening with our good friends Patti and Bernie at SPBGMA (Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America) annual awards and overloaded on bluegrass music. I am in awe of the talent of many families with children singing and playing with their parents. The biggest surprise was two guys called The Moron Brothers. A couple of Hillbillies from Kentucky, their music was toe-tapping and their routine was as funny as it was musically entertaining. They were great and I hope we have a chance to go to one of their shows again. Judging from the audience, bluegrass is an old folk music (we were among the youngun's there) and yet most of the performers are on the young side - so there is hope that bluegrass will survive the test of times.
Planning on a grandson weekend, our eyes constantly strayed to the weather forecast. The plan was for the four youngest grandson's to spend Saturday and Sunday with us, helping grandpa cut wood and just having fun. By 5:00 we had to admit defeat. Snow and falling temperatures were heading our way - not a good wood cutting combo. Unfortunately, wood cutting and grandson fun had to be postponed for another time.
Here we are today.

A wonderland of snow |
A fire to warm our toes |
And a memory board still waiting for the next message
Stay safe and warm. Today I am extremely thankful for a roof over my head and toasty toes.

Today I am thankful for lotions, and skin creams, and water... anything to hydrate skin dried out by the cold winter temperatures.
So often I say "where has this day gone!" I find myself saying it again today. One minute it was Noon and the next minute 2:00. How is that possible? I almost wish it would snow. The kind of snow where time stands still and there is nothing to do other than curl up in front of the wood stove and read a good book.
What do you like to do when the snow flies?

Rosie Elf (not to be confused with Elf on the shelf)
Today I am thankful for the creative grandchild who made me smile today.
This little guy hung on our very first Christmas Tree 43 years ago. Because of his her length, she often had the task of filling in the gaps of our often sometimes scraggly cedar trees. While taking down decorations this morning I noticed a little love had been added to our un-named elf. Sometime during the season she was given a boquet of roses. Seeing that brightened my day. The sun is shining - a very good thing after the torrential rains we had last week - and I am smiling. Thank you grandchild of the roses - whichever one you are.

A YEAR OF THANKFULNESS
I do believe this is the worst possible way to start out a New Year's Resolution - which is one post of thankfulness each day of the year. Day one I am late. No worries. I am rusty. For the first day of 2016 I am thankful for 2015. I won't herald it as a banner year - quite the opposite. It was a year we all survived. So I am thankful for 2015.
I will post more this year. The posts will be simple and heartfelt. I got lost in the complexities of blogville and forgot it is all about words. It is back to the basics for me.
Best wishes and prayers to everyone for the new year. Be kind to one another. Do a good deed every day. Smile often. And thank God for all we treasure.
