We have a few sheep again. When we sold our flock a year ago, the plan was to buy a few sheep every summer and raise them up to sell just before winter hits. That way Jim doesn't have to feed them hay through the winter. What we didn't count on is the fact that it would be very difficult to find a few sheep at a decent price without going to sale barns. But find them we did!
Here they are - just in time to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day!

We were hoping to get four rams, but only came home with two... but two is better than none. These two are already sold - to be butchered in November. So, I don't dare get too close to them. I learned that lesson a long time ago.
Some of our kids and grandkids are coming over later this afternoon for a cookout. It should be a lot of fun.

Awww they are so cute, I wouldnt want to get close to them also but it would be hard not too hehehe. Hope you have fun tonight, hubby and I will be going to our local mall here watching the fireworks :o)

Oh Bella would LOVE them!! She's such an animal freak anyway. Although she'd be heartbroken to know they were sold or slaughtered, lol!
Oh I was doing okay until I read about the butchering. I'm just an ole softie when it comes to animals. And I was raised on a farm! Hope you had a great 4th. Take care.

It's funny how hard it is to think of cute animals being butchered when I have no problem eating that lamb chop. Makes me feel like a real hypocrite, but I'm glad you got some good ones.

The slaughtering is the hard part for me, too. (Why this hypocrite finally quit eating meat--LOL!) I'd probably never be able to slaughter or know I was sending to slaughter anything. So on my fantasy farm I'd have sheep I would only use for wool, chickens only for eggs, cows and goats only for milk, horses to ride, etc. Everything would become part of the family and live to a ripe old age. ;)
I'm glad you and Jim were able to find a couple of sheep to raise. I hope they bring good money for you in the fall. Winter will be a hard one for farmers this year.
I hope everyone had a great time at your cookout. (how could they not?) We didn't have any set plans for yesterday, but had a nice day anyway. We ended up going to Karen and Ray's last night and shot off some small fountain type fireworks for the kids. (not much is legal in PA unless you get a permit)

Pets aren't suppose to be butchered! only the ones raised on those farms that do that stuff! (still not giving up meat though)

Nice looking critters. But, yeah, you don't want to make friends. We butcher chickens and send cattle to the butcher. And have butchered pigs in the past. It's the price of eating meat or enjoying dairy -- and part of farm life.
