Day Trip to Louisiana (Missouri, that is)

We've been wanting to go to Louisiana, Mo to visit the studio of artist John Stoeckley for quite some time.
Last Wednesday was tailor made for just such a short road trip.  What a great day we had!

If you click on the link above, you can see some of John's art work - Reflections of Missouri.  We live in a beautiful State, and it always makes me smile with pride when someone honors that beauty in works of art.  Since we have visited many of the places he showcases, we stood and drooled for a very long time.  John was the only other person in the shop and spent as much time as we wanted with us, just visiting, answering questions, and telling stories.

An extra bonus of this trip is Louisiana, MO itself.  What a pretty little sleepy town.  If you would like to see more, just click on the video below, sit back, and enjoy!

Absolutely gorgeous area, Deanna!! I loved the video; what a cool place to go for the day trip. That mural had lots of work in it! very talented artist Mr. Stoeckley is!

I think I would have enjoyed a resting place like that too! So peace and tranquil and breathtaking with the view around!

Thanks for sharing your day with us!

I am really enjoying the beauty in our fall this year.
You take the best day trips.
We need to do that more often.

Gee, I've never been. I wonder where that is from my part.

Missouri is so cool it has Mexico, California, and Louisiana.

I've never been to Louisiana. That's another place to put on my to-go list. I love river towns and the views on your video are beautiful! Nice video, Deanna!
Enjoy your weekend.

I think I like this Louisiana better than the "other Louisiana"!

Move over on that bench... I want to sit with you and look at "old man river" go flowin' by.

What an enchanting old town! Loved the video and the music, too.

The artist!! OMG! What detailed, beautiful work! Pen, ink, and watercolor--my favorite combination of mediums. He is so talented. I spent a long time looking at his paintings and barely touched the surface. Wow! I can see why you wanted to meet him and how exciting that the place was empty so you got to spend time with him and hear some stories!! A perfect day trip, I'd say! :)

Good Morning Deanna! I came here last night to read your post and I saw the video with music and I just left and came back this morning BECAUSE CH had the TV on so loud I couldn't think! Enjoyed your post on Louisiana, MO and your pictures are stunning. We went there about 3 years ago to visit a winery in town but it was so dang hot we didn't enjoy it like we should have. I will take a lesson from you and make it a Fall trip! They had a great restaurant where we had lunch! Glad you had a great day trip there :)
