God Bless America

I turned off television, sat on the porch and shed my tears, said my prayers and went to bed.

For once in my life I hope and pray that I am wrong.

One of the things that makes this country great is that even if it takes time - the road eventually leads to what is right.

Now is a time to put aside the acrimony and raw emotions - its time to ponder our fate, seek answers in our faiths, and put wary trust in those we as a whole have chosen to lead us, for better or worse.

And always, never ceasing to be vigilant, good neighbors, and true to ourselves and our god(s) and continue to strive to make the world better for ALL that live on it.

Thank you Iggy. I sit and carefully consider the wisdom of your words, especially the last sentence. What you say 'tis true. I don't think I'd feel so badly if we had elected a President who, hand over heart, is proud to be an American. Neither candidate was deserving of our vote.

Punkn,

Like you I have strong reservations of the direction this country is headed. I worry about a Democratic president, and a Democratic Congress. The one positive, at least for now, is the majority in the House is not filibuster proof. The Democrats will not be able to run roughshod over the Republicans, there will still be a sort of checks and balances.

I truly hope the GOP looks long and hard over the next 3 years, and puts together a better candidate with a better message for 2012.

Been saying for weeks that neither was truly deserving of the nomination...nevermind the vote.

I, too, pray that Im proven wrong.
