We have these little feathered friends outside our window.
We watch them every morning, noon, and night as we check email, Craig’s List, Blogs, Facebook, and….. (I guess we are on the computers a lot.) Did I mention that Jim got his very own lap top for Christmas? Not just a worn out hand me down from me that runs as slow as molasses. Nope. He got his very own screamingly fast machine. Well for him it is screaming fast. He only uses it for the internet. I think he loves it. Actually, I know he loves it.
Oh, and I also get to watch these lovely birdies as I digitize my embroidery projects.
They share, but like us humans, they aren’t always too happy about it. That big bad wood pecker shows up and the other birdies take flight… zoom!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE your house. I know growing up I might not have been very appreciative but I want you to know that I really do love your house. I guess the room you all are in is kinda special to me because it use to be my room as a little girl but I just love the view with or without the birds. The birds are really neat though.

I was at the American Legion meeting last night and a guy setting next to me had one of them notebooks, they seem like they can be very usefull, take anywhere type of thing i'd like to have if i had the need for one.The note book i have has paper in it and a Pen and i take notes. I love to feed my feathered freinds summer and winter.I like to watch the squirals ..HUgs JR
Cool on your hubby getting his laptop for Christmas, what a wonderful gift..I love my lil netbook...I love having a bird feeder but where I live I can't because the dang ole squirrels just gobble up the bird seed like crazy :o/
A Red-bellied Woodpecker and are those Tufted Titmice, or Bluejays? I like to keep track of the different kinds of birds that come to the feeder. Last winter I saw a couple new varieties for our yard.

Yay on Jim getting his own laptop. :) Marty got his father and I a new router and adapter for Christmas, so as soon as he comes home (which will be one day this coming week, i think), he'll get it going for us and then Terri will have cable internet instead of the dial up.
I love the woodpecker! Jays are pretty--but so territorial and will attack you.

Yes, definitely a red-bellied woodpecker, a male one at that. And a bluejay there as well. What was in the feeder? Was it just seed? If so, it's interesting to see a woodpecker eating seed, since they don't, unless other food is scarce. Will go back and look at the pictures again.
The first picture is definitely a Bluejay, but hard to tell what the other bird is. I think I agree with Anonymous, that it's a tufted-titmouse, because of the angle of the tail. The tuft isn't as tufted as you normally see, but it appears to be too small to be a Jay or a juvenile Cardinal.

I need your help! While waiting for the bus the other day, Bella and I saw the CUTEST little birds!! They were small like sparrows, but had beautiful yellow bellies. So beautiful!! It was wicked cold out and they were all "puffed" up. Bella was in heaven and wanted to know what kind of birds they were but I'd never seen them before! Can you help???
To Queenie: It's possible that they were Goldfinches. The color on the Goldfinches dulls some in the winter, but then when they molt in the spring, the males get real bright yellow and black. Of course the females are a duller yellow. Dumb birds, females are supposed to be prettier than the males.
I would love to have several birdfeeders around the yard but we cannot because they attract the bears. We do have a wide variety of birds that appear on the back deck (they like to sit on top of the wind chimes for some reason) but I've never been quick enough to snap a picture.
I love my laptop...hope Jim enjoys his too!
