I am surrounded by the best

Those who follow my blog know that rarely do I “express an opinion”.  Sure, I talk about what I am thinking at the time or what is going on in my life but I mostly stay away from controversial topics.  That is the way I am, so that is the way I blog.

Until now.

I feel comfortable in my little blog community.  I grin at my 18 followers.  I envy those who have hundreds of followers, but well, in most cases they also have a smaller circle of friends.  At least that is the way I see it.  There are a few exceptions of course and those bloggers I really applaud because they deserve every dedicated follower they have.

Where I am going with this is of everyone I follow I cannot imagine a single person intentionally hurting another blogger’s feelings.  None.  Nada!  And yet someone took offense at something typed and someone else feels bad about.  Come on folks.  This is blogsville.  And fortunately this is a nice side of blogsville.  I care about every one of my followers and every single one I follow.  And I am telling you not a single one of you would intentionally hurt someone else!

So my message here is…. lighten up.  Don’t sweat the small stuff (because it is all small).   Treasure the friendships we have formed here.  They are special.  And never take offense, because I’m telling you here and now that I guarandamtee that when a comment is made, no offense is EVER intended!

I have no idea what happened to cause hurt one way or the other.  It is none of my business.  But I am moved to say hugs to all and that each and every one of you are mahvelous!

I'm always amazed at how polite other bloggers are when they comment, even if they don't agree.

LOL Betty that made me smile because often I just don't comment on your blog. I'm as far right as you are far left. Shame on me for not following world challenges enough to challenge me. I'm not nice, though.... I just don't comment. Shame on me.

Very well put! :)

And, I'm not just saying it to be nice. I completely agree with you. I don't know what happened either (and, like you, I don't think it's my buisness... If it was then I'd know about it) but... Well, what you said, because I'm not going to retype your post in my comment, and I'd need to to say more.

To clear the air there is NO disagreement.

I asked someone (whom I'll leave unnamed because I've not cleared any of this with them) "Why are we in Afghanistan? and subsequently "is it worth the cost/price?" My intent was to ask someone in a military family what our mission was. My thinking was muddled but I have grown to distrust the media spin piled on top of the political babble that comes from the proven liars in Washington DC - So my thinking was - go directly to the source - it was actually a sign of respect in that I would trust and beleive this person's response (if there was one).

While I am without question, due to upbringing in an Amish and Quaker environment of pacifism, anti-war, I am not anti-self defense and as most of those that know me well - hold veterans that have served honorably in the highest regard -

I was thinking a little too inside my world view box. My mistake was to not consider the other person's world view.

They have suffered considerably as a family with a member in the military. Years of separation while he was on duty (FOR US) and being heckled by people here in the USA for being involved in a very unpopular war. An immoral war (fought under false pretext) that was not their choice or their doing.

Immoral or misguided as it might be - that soldier's service (or any others) is NOT in the least bit being called into question or being belittled.

I personally cannot conceive of people not supporting our soldiers in ANY condition - they have a duty to do what the Commander in Chief orders them to do. If there is a problem with war - The responsibilty lies with the C-in-C (and his political advisors) and NO where else.

So I naively "spoke" words that opened up all the hurt, deprivations, and even terror that this person holds inside. And for that I apologized. Profusely.

My questioning did the very thing that runs contrary to beliefs I hold deeply within me. I hurt someone. The hurt person might hopefully forgive me - I'm not the sort that lets himself "off the hook" so easily though. I need to better watch what I type.

Hugs Iggy. It doesn't matter the topic - no offense was intended and none should have been taken. That is my opinion and I'm stickin' to it :)

I agree. Life is just too short.
Hopefully everything works out.

Seems to happen every year, about the same time...although this year it hit a bit earlier than per usual. It's just a shame we can't hear the person's thoughts as they type it out because I suspect just hearing how they mean to express the words would make a huge difference. Very well put, hun.

Wow, looks like I missed out on something or other. Anyway I would hope we could all agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I'm glad you posted this. I've noticed lately that someone ends up being offended by everything I write. I can't win.

I figure everyone has the right to ask questions and voice their own opinions without getting reemed! You, as always, are right!
