Update on Dad

We still don't know what is wrong with Dad for sure. He has lost 20 lbs in 4 months. His stomach hurts and he is having trouble eating. He often can't keep his food down and he is very weak. One Dr. has painted a very grim picture but we don't have any definite answers. We are through round two of tests but have no results. In the meantime my brother picks dad up every morning and takes him to spend the day at his house. I then bring dad to our house every evening for supper and return him home in time for bedtime.

After working all day and spending my evenings caring for dad, I'll have to admit I am weary to the bone as I drop into my bed each night. The weariness is more emotional than physical.

Thanks for all your kind comments, thoughts and prayers. Keep em coming and I'll keep you posted as I know more.

Huge hugs to all!

*Hugs, thoughts and prayers, for you Punkn*

I've posted a lot of nonsense lately hoping it would produce a smile or two somewhere besides the one on my own face - it seems about all one can do from afar - except to reiterate and say, "You aren't alone - lots of people care about you and yours. Like me."

*Hugs Punkn* Maybe he's just depressed with the loss of your mom and all and there's not really anything bad wrong...Positive thinking helps me get through tough times

*HUGZ* Im with Karla, it could be depression. But it also could be something else entirely. You didnt exactly elaborate on the type of pain and where it was in his stomach so Im just going to guess that maybe the drs need to check his gall bladder (if he still has his) and look and see if his pancreas is acting up. In 2006, I was very sick for over 2 weeks. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks because I couldnt hold food down either. The pain was across the top of my stomach at the bottom of the ribcage. Turns out that I had gall stones...and not just a few (like 100+). Every now and then a stone would work loose from the gall bladder and get lodged in the joint tube near the pancreas. When this happened, the crap in the pancreas would back up and it would become inflamed. Which created the pain and the inability to keep food down. Anyhow...it's just something to keep in mind when he goes to the drs again.

Thanks all. Time will tell. They are checking everything out, or at least that is what they tell me.

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers, Punkn. I know it's a rough road for you and everyone involved. Going down a similiar road with my brother-in-law. Things just don't seem to get any better. *hugs*

I sure hope the doctors figure out what's wrong with your dad. This must be really tough for you to go through, after everything with your mom.

All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

HUGS!
